If you are currently considered a possible athletic recruit for the class of 2015 and have heard nothing from the coaches, what does this mean? I didn't even know I was a possible AR until yesterday. I submitted my times a while ago with hope that it would at least show them that I am capable of possibly being on an A-Squad team. All my academic scores/EC's/leadership are above the mean for the academy so I hope that my appointment wouldn't be contingent upon my sport :( Is there a certain date that AR's/ in my case, POSSIBLE AR's would be notified, or is it just with everyone else? I'm considering just contacting admissions to do some digging.
If anyone has any information on athletic recruits, that would be great. Otherwise, I'll just have to make a few phone calls. :thumb:

You need to contact:
MAJ Matthew Childers
West Point Recruited Athlete Admissions Officer
Phone (845) 938-5723

I don't really understand what you're wondering, is it if you're going to get an appointment based on being a recruit? I don't have any advice from personal experience to give but I do know it's pretty late in the recruiting cycle, even for atypical schools like the service academies are when it comes to recruiting opportunities. Contact admissions and make your few phone calls, it can't hurt. I know there's a recruiting admissions officer. (Edit: BOK's got that for you!)

Many athletic recruits get an LOA and have therefore received their appointments by now. Contact the coach and the athletic admissions rep.

West Point's athletics site has a directory with all the emails and phone numbers of each coach under "Athletic Staff Directory"

  • If the coaches are contacting you, you are probably a recruited athlete.

  • If you are contacting the coaches, it's highly unlikely.
