Great tips gleaned from the USNA parents List serv...

Before the year winds up for our plebes and they start clearing out all their "stuff", remember to ask them to save for you:
1. a Dixie Cup cover from Plebe Summer (priceless!)
2. Plebe year shoulder boards (get them from each year so you'll have a matching set upon graduation)
Once these things are gone, they are GONE!

38 Days til Herndon!!! :groupwave:

Save the "Dixie Cup". We have one hidden away. They will throw it away. Remember, they have all their uniforms and issued items at the end of first year. You need an SUV and a roof rack to get all that stuff home. After that they can rotate seasonal uniforms and things they actually need for each uniform change during Fall, Winter and Spring:thumb:. Happy Herndon and greased sides.

Thank goodness for greased Herndon! Let it stay that way always and forever!!!

Thanks for the tips! Hadn't even thought of that. And...thanks for just making a thread that says "Plebe No More Parents"!!! That sounds fabulous!:thumb:

Can you believe it is just a week and a half until Plebe year finals begin? This year has just flown...in spite of the rough spots!

SO glad that Herndon will be traditional and that it is SOON!

I can't believe how quickly the year has gone (tho I'm sure our mids wouldn't agree)
Mine just had his FINAL proboard Thursday, he's so happy to be done with pro-knowledge!
Yay for Plebes no more!

PositiveThinking, thank you so much for this suggestion. I plan to get DS to give me the hat before we leave town this weekend? Can he do that? Or will we need to wait for him to just bring it home? DS is already talking about what kind of media he will want in his room for next year. He has his eye on some speakers and it is so nice to hear the excitement in his voice about having more freedom next year.

Sure, I would think so! Our son brought one home for me at Thanksgiving. He had two, and he gave me the one that wasn't stained with red Gatorade.

DH is going to Herndon. We decided we couldn't afford for all 4 of us to go. I got to visit in early March, so it was his turn. I'm sad that I won't be there but so happy that Dad can be! Can you believe we're actually talking about our own Herndon? Seems like yesterday we were talking about the Herndon experience of 2013!
