Authorized boots for Beast

The 340s are not authorized. Those are flight/tank certified boots. Get the 390s.

My son purchased the 390DES boots while visiting West Point. These are the ones authorized.

Be sure to try the boots on with the proper socks to be sure of a good fit. His boot size was several sizes smaller than his normal athletic shoes and dress shoes. Go figure.

That was DS's experience also. The WP PX shoe department ladies were so helpful and patient because he had to keep asking for smaller and smaller sizes. He went from a "tennis shoe" 12 down to a "recruit boot" 10. If you have to buy over the phone, go to a shoe store and get your foot measured properly. It would be best if you could try them on!

Yes I agree, if you buy online, you can get something not expected...better to just go to a store...luckily I have an Army&Navy store in my neighborhood if I get in

You don't buy the boots/shoes from Army-Navy stores. They are purchased at an Army or Air Force Military Clothing Sales Store on military bases after you receive authorization from West Point. You will also be issued a pair on R-Day.

There is a place on your candidate portal to put your shoe size once you have received your appointment. DS did not complete that until he purchased the boots at the PX and had an actual size to report.

If issued on R-Day, I'm assuming they know your shoe size already.

We stepped on these electronic pads that would measure your shoe size and arch type for the different types of shoes we were issued (cleets, court shoes, boots) and printed out which size of each you should get. We then tried them on to make sure they were a good fit.

According to Deb Dalton on the WP Parents Facebook page , the Belleville 310s are WP Beast approved also. In April, she checked with WP to make sure they were and posted the following:

"Just learned last week that the Belleville 310s were OK.
Sorry everyone seems to be having different issues with the boots.
We don't mean to drive you crazy.
Keep in mind that if you don't find the boots or the shoes, they will be issued on R Day.
Is it nice to have the time to get your feet acclimated? Yes! But it is not an absolute.
Thanks for your patience!"

The 310s are Belleville's new model. They are slightly lighter than the 390s, have a padded tongue which helps with lacing, and an updated "running shoe" style sole. They are hot weather ACU approved and nearly identical in appearance to the 390s.
