For those of you who paid a deposit to a back up school:

Did your son/daughter also attend orientation etc. for that school, if it was held before they had to report?

We paid the hefty deposit for her back up school. Placement testing and orientation is in July - she will report to her civil prep school in August. Wondering if she should go or just wait and see.

We paid a deposit to a back-up school, but son will not be attending any orientation. He registered for classes online already, and the orientation is in August right before classes start.

If there is no doubt or risk involved in the civil prep school, i.e. it's a 'sure thing', it seems the orientation at the backup school is a waste of time other than to see what the rest of the freshman world is experiencing.
