Bad scoop - Accepted Norwich, but Quota full

Hi Clive,
Again...congratulations. How were you notified? By mail or did you check the website?

Thank you, I was notified by my recruiter and it was on the DoDMERB website also I received a package from my school saying congratulations on receiving a scholarship there.

Just curious as to why you were contacted by NJ, directly. Admittedly my son has done most of the leg-work here and I am not as informed as I should be, but should we call locally (we live in MD) to see the status? My son is still listed as "...being processed". Thanks

Craig

any sideload marine option recipients out there?

Mr. McMahon...

I read you comment and sent an email out to the NAV/MAC ROTC Commander at Norwich...below is his reply:

"Both I and CDR Hagenlocher have had exchanges with Mr. McMahon recently about this. If the OSO told him scholarships default to the first choice, then the OSO was mistaken because Colin should have applied to other schools. Colin is not on our list, and it appears as if we have reached our quota with 22 Navy and Marine option freshmen for Fall 2010. We will not have 30 as we did this past fall. We explained to Mr. McMahon that we have pretty good success with Marine sideload scholarships, but if Colin comes to Norwich and goes that route he will probably not get one until his Sophomore year and he would have to pay tuition for his Freshman year. This assumes, of course, Colin’s academic and physical performance at Norwich meet the standard."

Just wondering if anyone out there in the forum has in fact received a marine option sideload scholarship anywhere? If so, would you be willing to share information here - your stats, your experience? Any specific difficulties you encountered in the process? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! Mom to a USNA TWE holding Marine Officer in the making - the goal has not changed, just the pathway there:smile:

Not sure if anyone out there was still waiting to hear about the Marine Corps option scholarship, but I got this email response back from Pensacola today:

The Marine Corps is completed with its selection cycle, and all the selects have been chosen and notified. If she was not on the list of selects, then she has officially not been chosen for a scholarship for the 2010 year. To be considered again, she will have to fill out a 2011 scholarship application online at https:\\www.nrotc.navy.mil.

Very Respectfully,
