Quick question, are any of the banks at west point actually located on post? I remember seeing USAA right outside of Thayer Gate, but it would definitely be more convenient to have access to whatever bank I open an account with. Any suggestions or prior knowledge from current cadets? Thanks in advance!

i have the contact info you need. i called and everything was set up for me and lorinda even sent me the 1199a form which she filled in and mailed with all the rest of the account paperwork. here's the info:

For what it's worth, your cadet can get a bank account, rental insurance (to cover their equipment, computer, uniforms etc from loss or theft)(yes it happens), credit card w/ a small credit limit through USAA. Deposits can be made over an iphone or android by taking a picture. USAA can set prepare the 1199 form to send to West Point - great service and access to all atms w/ no fees.
 
There is USAA right outside the gate. You can do everything online and specialize in dealing with military members and their families. :thumb:
 
And USAA covers ATM fees up to $3, so you can use the pen fed ATM's on post. I also think there is a USAA ATM near the subway, but that might be another pen fed.
 
I highly recommend USAA. I have not had any problems with them at all, and like others have said, they cover ATM fees if you use another bank's ATM

I decided to go with USAA, and when I called their 800 number, the person took care of everything via phone and I'm waiting to hear back with my official information. Number was 1-800-531-8722.
