Curious if anyone knows whether ICs are afforded any opportunity for individual sport training such as lifting, throwing, etc. during 6 weeks of BCT. I am sure there will be no lack of aerobic training and calisthenics during that time period! Thanks.

Thanks for info. Im sure coach will provide lowdown, but I've heard mixed stories from other cadets families about this subject.

Some sports will have 6-7 practices during 1st BCT intramurals. From what I remember, football is pretty much the only sport that practices during 2nd BCT.

It will depend on your sport. Fencers, as I recall, are not excused for BCT, though as Blahukahuna says, some football players are.
If you have questions contact the coach.

Last summer, during BCT1, ICs would train with their teams while everyone else played intramurals. BCT2 -- most had to remain. Football was the exception.

Soccermii, if I am guessing from your username correctly, I'm assuming you are a soccer IC. My basic roommate was also a soccer IC. During intermurals, they practiced with their teams. I believe there was never other mandated practice times separate from basic. They conducted one meeting for roster checks and doolie day out was spent with their team. Other than that, you participate in regular basic with the non-IC cadets. That goes for most, if not all other sports apart from football.

These things can change from season to season, sport to sport. For a clear answer, contact your coach, team captain, or one of the assistants.
