Now that BCT is coming to an end, and A-Day is within sight, when should we be contacting the Plan B school that DS will not be attending? I thought I read somewhere it was after taking the oath... or after Jacks Valley...but I wasn't sure. Thanks!

After they take the oath on A-day they are cadets. If they are injured, they can stay and recover if medically appropriate. We notified plan B school after A day.

My DD's Plan B school's deadline to cancel dorm reservations was today. Received letters yesterday which is about a week old stating that she has no plans of leaving and is staying put. So I just cancelled this AM.

My parents cancelled my plan B a week from the end of 2nd BCT because you can only miss 8 days of basic.

We didn't call to cancel his spot until the first day of class at the Plan B school. We had been in contact with them and they knew that they were a back-up. The housing deposit was lost regardless, so that is when they told us to let them know.

Thank you everyone!!:thumb: Guess I have some phone calls to make. Ended up putting deposits on plan B and C. Plan B was out of state and we started thinking that if he was medically turned back he might not be able to use his AFROTC scholarship there, and we wouldn't be able to afford the out of state school tuition without the scholarship, so also put a deposit on an instate school. Figure housing deposits are gone, but maybe we can recover something from the schools' deposits. If not, oh well... It was well worth it for the peace of mind!! The basics march back today!! WooHoo!!! So proud of them all!

Same with my son. The lost housing deposit was still a good investment.

Plan B

Same here as we did not make any plan B,C,D as it was always going to be Air Force. Know it was not the safest move, but had the faith!!
