Cadets,
My son got his Beast Combat Boots and wore them to an ROTC competition to break them in. They came back filthy...no surprise. What is the best way to clean combat boots? and will WP gig him for them not being spotless on arrival?

When I bought my boots for Beast I also bought a boot caring kit based on the WP PX employee's suggestion. Is the caring kit necessary before Beast? Do I need to make my boots spotless before R-Day?

I don't usually comment on the USMA forum but I found this thread to be very applicable to my night here...we had Challenge of the Guardian here at USCGA yesterday and my boots (USCG uses the black boots) are completely covered in mud. So after I complete my History paper (probably around 0030 or so) I will be doing what scoutpilot advised. :thumb:

Its not really a big deal, your boots are sort of designed to be dirty and suede is very hard to get clean. dont have mud caked on them but dont waste your time shampoo-ing the leather of COMBAT boots.

Do we need to shine our low quarters before beast? Edge dressing?

Nope, you will be given plenty of opportunities to shine your shoes during Beast. I know I wouldn't have taken this advice myself this time last year, but don't worry about stuff like that. Enjoy the last 70-odd days of civilian-ness free from all thoughts of shoe-shining :thumb:
