Before we head out...

Dang!!! I just had my going away party tonight and after I got back home, it hit me as to how real this is! Everything up to this point almost seemed somewhat distant, but when i was saying bye to everyone afterwards it really hit me how permanent and real this really is! Not that its a bad thing, but just wanted to share my experience with the BCT being in only 4 days! Crazy...big step...scary step....but im READY!

hence the tidal wave. :shake:

just take the advice that the parents and cadets/alumni on this forum have given you to heart. they've been through the process. remember, "tomorrow's just another day."

Rather than start a new thread for this question, here it goes....

1.) My Mom is wondering how the squads line up at the swearing in ceremony on the 26th (she wants to be on the wall nearest the squadron I'll be in to maximize her chances of spotting me)

So, for people who know, lets say your looking from the wall of the chapel down at the terrazo; how are the squadrons lined up (1-40?)

If they operate like I remember and like parades normally go...
There will be two rows, odd squadrons in front and even squads in back. From left to right it will be 1-40.

Swearing in ceremony

The way the ceremony was lined up last year - looking out from the chapel wall squadron A was to your right all the way down to squadron J on your left. (BCT was divided into ten squadrons A - J). Tell your mom to get to the chapel really early & to bring her binoculars. It is hard to pick out your basic when everyone is in uniform with hats on!

How far will we typically run in the boots? I just did a short jog in them, and they are sooo heavy compared to my trainers. The weight really makes it tougher, along with wearing pants...

haha. sorry to bust your bubble, but you'll more than likely do a lengthy run in them at least once, with a rifle and your ABUs and canteen/web belt... dont worry, it's not so bad

Jw.....anyone else get there Squad yet??? I just found mine out! Anyone else know theirs?

i got a master list from the local parent's association. but i forgot which one i'm in. tarter sauce.

Oh lol.....i guess its just me then. My liaison officer called and let me know which i am in. Its still preliminary and subject to change but he said more then likely Ill be a Barbarian D for summer and Eagle Eight for freshman year!
