I apologize for asking a somewhat off topic post, however I will do it anyway! I am a West Point parent and would very much appreciate any suggestions for the best seafood restaurant in Annapolis. We are staying in the Annapolis Marriott and I am looking to impress the wife, thank you for your suggestions!

You'll need a car or a cab, but by far for crabs, it is Cantilers Riverside Inn. It is a true local crab house. Not a fancy place by any stretch, but very good. If you are looking for something "special occasion" wise, I am sure there are "fine dining" seafood places that are nicer.

Roadking, The Charthouse,O'Leary's and Lewnes Steakouse are all good places that are impressive. Despite Lewnes's being a steakhouse they have great crabcakes. I'm no fan of Cantler's, paper plates shouldnt be pricey. Back in the day they were fun but those days have long since passed.

You realize, of course, that asking for the best seafood restaurant in Annapolis is like asking for the best Catholic in Rome, however, my old roommate has lived in Annapolis for the last 20 years and when I asked him to take me to the best seafood place in town, we went to the Severn Inn. Beautiful views of the river and the Academy and the chow was superb.....I plan on taking my wife there for the same reason. They have a good web site to show the views and building. It falls into the category of fine dining so bring a warm credit card.

If you want to stay within walking distance of downtown Annapolis, but feel like you're getting away, try

O’Leary’s Seafood Restaurant
310 Third Ave.
Annapolis, MD 21403
410-263-0884

It's actually located in the old Eastport section of Annapolis (which is pretty neat in and of itself). If you're staying at the Marriott on the waterfront on Compromise Street, just cross the drawbridge at the bottom of Compromise street and you're in Eastport. There are several fine restaurants in the Eastport near O'Leary's if O'Leary's doesn't strike your fancy. There also is a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on Severn Street in Eastport about two blocks from O'Leary's.

Spud has it right. Severn Inn. I grew up near Annapolis and can vouch for that choice.

And...

I know your bride will not go for it; however, if you like a good cigar there is a great place right in town. You can also (I believe) BYOB and sit in the rear of the store, kick back, and enjoy.

Do you recall the name of said tobacconist?

Not a seafood restaurant, but recommend Shirley's for breakfast or lunch.

True, Cantler’s is not fancy….but impress the wife by hiring a boat from City Dock to take you there and back! You can dock right there at Cantler’s.

I think it's just Annapolis Cigar. It's just down the street from O'Brien's, next to or a couple doors down from CVS and impossible to miss because there's a cigar Indian right outside.

I'll throw in a plug for Rockfish and Chart House, both across the bridge. Rockfish in particular (and maybe Chart House? Can't remember) have a great Sunday brunch as well, though a little pricey.

!!! That's It !!!

Yes, Annapolis Cigar, that's the place!!!

Thank you Hurricane12, the cigar Indian it the perfect land mark to look for.

I can vouch for Charthouse and the Severn Inn. I've been to both multiple times and never had a bad experience. Neither are cheap but worth the price. From the Marriott you can walk or water taxi to the Charthouse but would probably need to drive to the Severn Inn. As Spud said it's hard to beat the view from the Severn Inn looking across the water at the Academy.

Thank you everyone for the great suggestions! It will be the Severn Inn for dinner followed by Shirley's for breakfast....The weather looks great this weekend, we are really looking forward to the trip! GO _ _ _ Y!!! (I will let you guys fill in the rest):thumb:

Uhh... THE CHART HOUSE! If you are staying at the Marriott (make sure it is one of the balcony rooms that overlooks the yard) then the Chart House is just a short water taxi ride away. Very easy!
