Listed a few to vote on. Saving Private Ryan takes the cake for me with Patton a close second.

No "We Were Soldiers"? C'mon now, you gotta include that one! Since it's not on the list I voted for Black Hawk Down as my #2.

There ARE no more war movies after "Band of Brothers". It puts "Saving Private Ryan" to shame, if you can believe it.

Yeah but band of brothers was an 11 part miniseries not a movie though.

Picky, picky, picky.

That one scene during the insertion into Normandy was better than all the movies you posted up there.

Still, from those above, I'd pick SPR.

Chip - some good ones here but I have to go with "The Russian's are Coming!" best one ever..... 2nd that one where they painted the submarine pink- with Cary Grant (I think) -hilarious.

My vote on your incomplete list - Saving Private Ryan.

I know it was a mini-series, but I have to go along with Zaphod: Band of Brothers.

another good movie is Crimson Tide, its about nuclear subs. Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman are great in it.

out of those i would say either Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down

I voted for "Saving Private Ryan" but I also really enjoyed "Band of Brothers". Another good one is "Glory". That is a favorite with the Civil War fanatics in my house. Denzel Washington won best supporting actor for Glory.

I happen to own a copy of the above "pink sub" movie (no, I am NOT ashamed of myself). After all, what does the sub rescue? NURSEYPOOS!! I associate with the one who kept helping the captain have accidents.

Anyway, I did like Crimson Tide.

HATED Pearl Harbor. Did you see the nurse's hair and nails? NON-REGULATION!! Ugh!:barf:

It's hard, cause movies like Schindler's list and Patton show much different aspects. hum....

When you have a nickname like "Sergeant Gonorrhea" you know you made it in the Army.

Getting a battlefield commission is pretty nice too.

I just rewatched a couple of the episodes, Bastogne, Battle of the Bulge, Karentan... forgot how awesome the series was.

Only seen part of the attack, and it was so overdone I can't imagine how bad the rest of the movie is.

Best description of it I read was when Anne Coulter described it as the Japanese launching a surprise attack on a love triangle. :yllol: :yllol: :yllol:

I refuse to vote. Where is In Harm's Way? A bunch of punk Army wanabees making lists. Jeez. Yes, The Russians are Coming, also. Cold War.

Im sorry guys, there were only 10 different movies i can list, give a guy a break *cry*

69 seems to still be in his attack mode from the other night :shake:

i think you made nice choices with the limited space you had chip:thumb:

I think you had some good choices. You don't have enough room to list all of them. Anyone remember "Purple Hearts?" Total schlock, but it qualifies under the Vietnam era. SO glad you didn't add that one.

Nurseypoo, a Navy person, of all people, siding with him. Not ONE Navy movie. I am applalled. I call for a boycott of this thread by all members who have so much as a drop of sea water in their veins, even once removed.

I know, but I did plug AND support the not listed Navy movies! I love and OWN Operation Pettycoat! Cary Grant? Tony Curtis? Hot nurses? :shake: Plus, Crimson Tide. :thumb:

Also, U-571 was Naval but exceedingly incorrect (the Brits got the Enigma first, we didn't  ), but it did have John BonJovi :wow: and that Matthew guy :muscles2: whose name I can't spell properly, so I won't.

I was going to mention Officer and Gentleman, but it didn't have anything to do with war time and I don't want to get off the path into how good Richard Gere looked in his dress whites (chokers?) and all those hunky pilot dudes in Top Gun (anyone have a volleyball?), but I digress.

If you want to see me break down and sob, show me Schindler's List. The little girl in the red coat?
