We just found out this week that our son has been offered a 4 year campus based scholarship at Boise State. This was his #1 school choice and he was already enrolled for the Fall, including all the 1st year Army ROTC classes. Needless to say, he is pretty excited. :thumb:

Great news! Congratulations!

Thanks....he was pretty bummed when he didn't get chosen during the "national" selection process, especially since he had a better overal GPA and test scores than his sister (who will be an MS-III). Even if he wasn't chosen for campus based, I was proud of him for stepping up to enroll in ROTC classes without the scholarship.

I didn't think about it until just now but for all I know, that may have helped get him the scholarship to begin with since by enrolling, he was showing a commitment to the program. Probably a great lesson for the future.... :thumb:

Well he certainly wouldn't have gotten it if he hadn't enrolled. Your point about the grades is an indicator of how much tougher ROTC is these days. With budget cuts and the economy being what it is its much more competitive. For that very reason tell him to keep his nose clean. Screw UPS are no longer tolerated as evidenced by a current thread on this forum.

Be sure to report back on how he's doing. We all love to hear about the joys and challenges of ROTC.

Great news, Congrats

Keep us posted on how DS/DD progress thru the year

Congratulations on the 4 year scholarship to Boise State. I wonder about that blue football field, though.

Congratulations! My DS was also disappointed not to receive the AROTC scholarship when he didn't get selected during the national process. But he did receive a campus-based one from VMI, which he had applied to ED. He was committed to go there no matter what, and the scholarship was truly icing on the cake! You must be thrilled, and I'm sure your DS is doing the happy dance! :wiggle:
