The only thing holding up the completion of my son's application is the interview with the Blue & Gold Officer. He had an appointment with one in August set up. Then the officer canceled the appointment because he said we lived too far apart. Our family had already told the officer that we would drive up (1.5 hours) to meet with him on that day. We wanted to get this done so when school started it wouldn't be hanging over his head for one more thing to do. So we got connected with the newly assigned blue & Gold officer. This officer offered next Mon, Tues, & Wed to meet. My son emailed him back to tell him Monday will work, but the guy is "out of the office" this week and is not responding to his email. My son left him a message on his home phone as well. I get that these guys need vacations and time off and volunteer, but we have lives as well, and it would be nice to know if they are meeting on Monday or not. Is the officer going to wait until Monday morning until he responds? A little frustrated with the whole thing.

Yea, the whole process can be a bit frustrating; I'm waiting for feedback from USNA.
However, so long as the interview goes well, and your son is great, I'm sure theres nothing to worry about. The Board looks at files on a rolling basis apparently; so long as it's on time, and everything is in, I'm sure he'll be fine.

Try to be patient. It is only Wednesday. If you haven't heard by Saturday mid-day -- when he/she should be home from any travel, etc., I'd suggest trying again via email and, if you have it, by phone.

I second the "try to be patient"....military life can be and will be all about last minute notices and changes. I would prepare for Monday and if it turns out to be a different day....change your plans. Right now, if you want an appointment to USNA, then this interview should be pretty high, if not at the top, of your priority list. I don't think anything would have come before this interview when my son was in the application process.

Lived too far apart......I kind of had to chuckle at that one. Our BGO was 535miles away. Yes, 535. Conducted the interview over the phone even though we offered to put son on Southwest Airlines to get him to the BGO's location. Be patient, but also be persistent and make this a priority on your part. I agree with Popeye's Mom.........at our house, if the BGO had said "Be here tomorrow!" we would have made that happen. At 535 miles away.

Don't worry about the distance, my BGO lives about 1.5 hours away. I even went there twice, once for the actual interview and once earlier in the summer for an information type session. My ALO and I met about 2 and a half hours away for the interview. Just be patient!

Same here. Be patient and have DS/DD talk to BGO assigned. Some do cover large geographic areas depending on population density. BGO and ALO from USAFA were very accomodating. The important thing is for the interview to go well and get in by deadlines. Their input is part of the overall candidate assessment.
