Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, just wasn't sure exactly where to put it, since it's a general question for all the academies.

Are women allowed to be on birth control at any of the academies?

Though I am not a healthcare provider, birth control medication and devices are a private health issue between midshipmen/cadet and military healthcare provider. Same as for all other military folks. If a mid/cadet wants this, and she falls within acceptable risk criteria, she and the healthcare provider will discuss methods, pros and cons, any questions. Prescriptions are filled the same as any other item at the Academy pharmacy. Mids are treated as young adults who are considering a routine healthcare question. Male mids have the same access to healthcare advice in this area.

I am with Capt. on this one, but I would add 2 things.

1. MullenLE will give you the best answer

2, Anytime you medically mess with your body as a military member you can be creating medical issues that can cause bigger problems. Birth control has side effects are you willing to chance that pleasure for you to get medically DQ due to a rare side effect?

I am a woman who had one of those rare side effects and can tell you had I known that I would be the rare ones I would have never gone that route...OBTW I was not military (just a spouse) and in perfect health.

Weigh the options.

If you search the threads, you'll find discussions on this. Many mids/cadets choose to take a low dose pill, especially during beast, because it suspends some of the unpleasantries associated with being female.

Simple answer: Yes

There are some restrictions simply based on Tricare and DoD formularies, but there are numerous options.
