Boots?

Several of the other service academies recommend that the cadets buy boots before reporting in so that they can break them in ahead of time.

Is this recommended for the Coast Guard Academy? If so, what kind? Where can you purchase them? etc

If I recall, swabs bring a pair of athletic shoes with them...broken in, of course.

you slowly break them in over the summer. the cadre will tell you when to wear them to facilitate that.

As I recall DS had to purchase running shoes before reporting. The shoes had to meet color requirements. Nothing gaudy. He did not purchase boots beforehand.

You can thank 2006 for the "saving the feet". 2007 never ran in leathers or boots. My broken in arches say "you're welcome".
