I got an email today from Sen. Warner of VA saying "Your nomination is one of several I am authorized to make this year against a single vacancy at the Academy for entry next summer."

So what if the senator nominated two or even more candidates with LOAs for that single vacancy of his? Because competition is intense in VA, the MOCs of VA are coordinating with each other so that they don't have overlapping nominations. That means this is the only nomination I will get, as all other nominees of Sen. Warner are. Again, what if there are two or more candidates w/ LOAs competing for this single vacancy?

LOA+Nomination= Appointment

You will receive an appointment if you have an LOA and a nomination. However you will not get charged to your MOC. That is how some MOCs say they sent 3 people to one academy one year even though there was only one vacancy (2 had LOAs and where somewhere on his slate). So relax... you are fine and hopefully will be hearing soon!!!
