I know that there are opportunities to pick up new sports at the Academy with the various club sports. I find boxing fascinating, but never had the opportunity to pick up the sport. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about women's boxing? I am aware that right now there are only around 2-3 female boxers based on the recent NCBA finals. Does anyone know if it is possible to walk on the team with little to no experience?

Yes it is possible. There are lots of walk ons for boxing. As you probably know boxing has a pretty storied tradition at USNA. Tends to be a close group and they workout a lot. Keep you in great shape!

Along the line of female boxing...USCGA has a female 1/c, Mary Hazen, who took up boxing this past August and was recently crowned the National Collegiate Boxing Association National Champion in the 139 pound class. She wrote a blog on the CGA website after she won the New England Golden Glove Novice Championship http://uscga.edu/blog.aspx?id=6586
    Go for it!
