braces

    Is the requirement that incoming cadets have all braces removed prior to R-Day. I hear conflicting answers. Thanks

    YES, from what I understand you cannot report in with braces. Retainers that you wear at night are permitted.

    I would double check on that. I'm pretty sure my roommate 4/c year had braces, but they definitely have to come off before commissioning

    Having braces is a medically disqualifying condition, which is why the Cadet Handbook states active orthodontic treatment must be completed prior to R-Day; however, waivers are occasionally granted when our Chief Dental Officer determines the braces are for medical versus purely cosmetic reasons.
