Congrats to the parents and members of the Class of 2013. When our son was preparing for Beast, Just A Mom gave us the advice "bubble wrap him till R day." This weekend a young man headed for the USAFA Class of 2013 was killed in a car accident. Please follow this wisdom. Respectfully, I also ask that your prayers go out to this family.

CONROE (May 25, 2009)--A star Texas high school football player has died in a car wreck less than a week before graduation.

Police say Jordan Wilson, 17, was a passenger in a Ford Fusion that was traveling more than 100 miles per hour Sunday when it slammed into a tree on the shoulder of a dark, curving road.

It happened around 9:40 p.m. on Airport Road at Byrdsong in Conroe during what police said was a race involving at least one other vehicle.

“One vehicle got way ahead of the others. The roadway surface was wet, and they basically lost control, hit a culvert, flipped over, ejected the engine, the transmission and the driver, and struck a tree,” Sgt. Jon Buckholtz of the Conroe Police Department said.

Wilson was recently accepted into the U.S. Air Force Academy and was named most valuable player by the coaches in his district.

Yetter said charges are pending against the 18-year-old driver of the vehicle, who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
