C/O 2019 Mailbox Stalkers

So I very nonchalantly checked the mail today, thinking we're going to have to wait, and lo and behold, it's a TWE! Ach.... No!! Not again ... But last year the first TWE was notice that he had been selected for the Wait List, so I wasn't completely deflated. Indeed, it's a guaranteed offer of appointment, contingent on Medical Qualification!! OMG So happy for him!! Called DoDMERB to confirm what they told me yesterday. Texted DS photos of the letter!! Yay! Yay! Yay!

Congrats Kayaker! Still waiting......MOC is no longer in office so I don't think we will be getting a phone call like others have, we will just have to continue stalking the mailman. Thankfully the mail comes early in the morning and I can run home from work each day and check. I don't have to wait until the end of the day.

My sister sent me a picture of my BFE today!!! I go to college out of state and this is my second ride on the roller coaster!! I'm off for spring break tomorrow and can't wait to see it with my own two eyes :)

Go Navy
Congratulations!!

Oh my God!! I'm so happy to read this!! Congratulations to you and your DS, this is wonderful news!

I left a note on our mailbox for the letter carrier to call me if we got a letter from the Department of the Navy, told him what the letter would hopefully look like, and gave him two cell phone numbers. My wife thought that was pathetic and publicly outed me on Facebook.

So me wanting to put a GoPro camera in the mailbox is not too far afield...

Our Congressman is no longer in office either. We didn't get a call. The letter indicates that copies were sent to our MOCs. Interesting thing is, the letter is not dated, but it's postmarket Feb. 24. It go here quickly -- but it's not a BFE. Hoping for the best for you, Nollie!

A letter of Assurance! Fantastic Kayaker! This is wonderful news and what an honor to serve in the United States Navy, via the U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY! Congratulations to all of your family.

Wow! Yesterday was a good day--congratulations to all, I am thrilled for each and everyone of you!

I'm an official DoDMERB website medical waiver stalker; hoping to graduate to mailbox stalking in a few weeks. If not, DS has a solid plan B that we are thrilled with.

93Sir, Your avatar is adorable!

YAY Kayaker! I had a really good feeling when I read that DoDMERB accepted his waiver from last year! Your post just made me so happy!! ( I bet you are happy you got the DoDMERB question straightened out BEFORE the LOA arrived, or else you would be really stressed!)

Kayaker, that's so wonderful! Congratulations to you and your DS!! We are still waiting for hopefully a BFE from USNA. DD received one from West Point on Saturday, but is still hoping for a good news from Navy.

Yes, the Liaison at the MOC's office.
I didn't realize the liaison at the MOC office knew that much regarding the applications. I wasn't given any information.

Would any of the college re applicants who have gotten appointments mind sharing what their DD/DS had for first semester college GPA? Just wondering if DS was in the ball park.

DS had a 4.0 and earned an appointment to USMA only, even though he was on a 4-year NROTC scholarship at The Citadel and had re-applied to USAFA and USNA as well. He took 200-level French and no Chemistry, since he was a French and History major.

I received a 3.3 GPA(3 A-, 2 B, 1 B-) at a large Big Ten school. Took 18 credit hours, 7 of which were 200 level. The classes I took were Calc, Chem, Lab, History, Comp, Public Policy. Also, contracted and selected for Marine Corps PLC.

Nollie, I think I know how you feel wondering where your DS stacks up to the other college reapplicants. Until yesterday, I think I was there too, wondering whether he put something dumb in his essay (he didn't let me read it this year) or whether he had enough ECs, etc. I don't know what DS's GPA was. He took Calculus, Chemistry, Physics lab, Engineering, and Writing for Engineers (don't remember the name). We had to talk him into taking only 15 credits -- he wanted to take more -- so he could adjust to college and NROTC. While we waited, I wondered whether we gave him good advice. Maybe USNA wants more? It seems like there is no magic GPA, just a total package, and persistence (commitment) should count for a lot in looking at reapplicants' packages. I hope you receive good news soon!

I know this is a bit off the original topic, but if we get the dreaded TWE this year, my DS has already informed me we are getting back on the roller coaster for the second, and if needed third rides. He is going to major in engineering at a Big Ten school. My question is since he is taking AP chem this year if he scores a 4 on th AP exam he wouldn't have to take the dreaded Chem 115 and 116 at his college. Would the academies frown upon him only taking physics plus lab, calculus, and the other basic freshmen engineering classes plus ROTC?
Thanks for any suggestions!

DS is a mechanical engineering major with 3.9 GPA- taking calculus 3, differential equations, intro to ME, physics, he placed out of chem
