C/O 2019 Mailbox Stalkers

Since reading usnabgoO8 post yesterday my constant thought has been TWE's. Today, DS received a dreaded TWE. The return address was from Department Of The Navy/office of admissions. My heart sunk, thinking--NO! It can't be; he just received his medical waiver. Sure enough Admissions Medical Office was sharing the good news that his record will continue through the process.

We were expecting notification from DoDMERB, not the Academy--they got us! :)
d22 - Congratulations on the great news! Did you know the medical waiver was in the works (via the DoDMERB portal?). Just curious, as my DS is awaiting a waiver (or hoping for one).

Thank you, ACAN!

Yes, we knew. At the request of the Academy, DoDMERB sent DS a letter (snail mail) notifying him that a waiver has been initiated. After submitting additional information, we had been portal stalking up until last Thursday when DS's status changed to: "Medical waiver granted."

I hope this helps, and your DS is granted a medical waiver!

ACAN - DD is also waiting for for a waiver. I noticed new status on DodMERB R250.10 Pending waiver review by USNA. We did not get any letter though :(. I did email DodMERB and they said this code meant it was sent to the waiver board. Now I'm not sure if it means a waiver was requested or if they all have this. This whole thing is making me crazy! I have been portal stalking as well !

FLHopeful, My suggestion would be to call DoDMERB for confirmation and or clarification. Our experience with them has always been positive, and informative.

Good luck and keep us updated on your DD's progress.

I broke down and made the call to the MOC. I led off with, "I really don't want to be 'that Mom', but..." The call appeared to be well received. I was informed that 2 people on the slate didn't pass the physical, that the slate was very competitive, that my DS was 'one of their top choices', the slate was unranked, that my DS's file had been reviewed by the USNA and marked as 'Competitive' and that 2 on the slate hadn't been reviewed yet by USNA. So even though my DS was opposed to my making the call, it gave me some satisfying information to chew on and humored me a few more days in the waiting game. Still waiting... I've become obsessed with these Forums like a bad edition of NJ Housewives. The Forums give me both peace of mind (when I see that others are waiting too) and full body anxiety (when I see all of the BFEs that have been received. A true Congrats! to them!! ) And I've been keeping the information to myself lately because it seems that I have been starting every family conversation with, "According to the Forums" and my family can't take it anymore...

Our DS got his MOC Nomination back in November and we are still waiting… I’ve become obsessed with these forums and my number one priority every day is to run to the mailbox as soon as I get home. I agree with you “The Forums give me both peace of mind (when I see that others are waiting too) and full body anxiety (when I see all of the BFEs that have been received)” as well! Congratulations to all who have received their appointments, and good luck to all of us that are still waiting!

Well I stayed off this forum until my son received his appointment (calls from both Senator and Congressman). That was 10 days ago. Still no BFE :(

My DD had all her correspondence go to her campus mail in Virginia. Appointment letter dated 13 feb 2015 and she received the BFE which was postmarked 23 feb 2015 on or around the 25th or 26th. She kept it mum and to herself until she got home for spring break on march 6th. That's my independent even keeled daughter. I was stalking for nothing here in Kansas.

I broke down and emailed the MOC office today to ask about anticipated timing. We have deposits due on a trip that we cannot take if he gets in USNA since it conflicts with I DAY.

MOC rep said she logged in and his status is "not evaluated yet". Her read seemed to be that they are still in the midst of reviewing and she said they were notified through late March last year about appointments.

That could mean that USNA is waiting on a waiver or college grades for someone on the slate and then once that is in and all candidates can be evaluated against each other, appointment(s) will be made.

Good luck! We are still waiting and I'm thinking I may break down and call as well.

MJP, we called our MOC office because they hadn't announced the slate. They were VERY courteous and told us about how many slots were available and that it was unranked. That's how we found out about DS's nom- about a month before it showed on portal. I am sure they would be happy to discuss it with you.
Mom 529- These forums have been extremely helpful and I have been learning a lot about the whole process... So how do we check the portal to see if anything has been posted? Hoping for appointment for our DS :thumb:

Go to USNA.EDU
click on admissions
click on "apply/continue application"
click on "continue application"

Then fill in your DS's info

When you look at the portal which is accessed through the "continue application" link, it will have a line for nominations and either say,"none received" or hopefully the name of the source they got one from. Good luck!

Mailbox stalking has ended for us today in Florida. TWE received. This is especially tough as DH is an alumni and 20 year retiree. DS was 3Q, 4.0, 29 ACT, maxed out CFA, president of this, captain of that, a NASS attendant, triple nominated and a legacy. Tough to see that big heart break right before your eyes. We talked about all the different scenarios that might play out should one or the other arrive. The scenario imagined for the TWE went exactly as planned and I was there to watch the hope leave his heart . There was no preparing for that part. So for those who stalk on, we wish you great comfort or great rejoicing but above all, we pray blessings on each of these fine young men and women who are answering the call. Thank you for your service and the sacrifices you will make.

So now, for us, it's on to Florida State University. Go Noles!

@93Sir So sorry to hear that, but glad that he has a nice backup plan. I am anticipating the same thing soon, as DD's stats are very close to your DS and she is not a legacy :(

Dear '93 Your post was heartbreaking. Who can make sense of this only to say you probably live in an extremely competitive district. I would think your DS would've been in line for a Foundation sponsorship but with 'Noles awaiting he probably wouldn't have taken it. Best of luck going forward.

I'm very sorry to hear that your son has received the TWE. I wish the best for you and your DS.

93Sir, sorry and surprised to read your post. Out of curiosity, if you had to take a stab at why you think your DS may have not received the appointment, what would be your guess? I certainly don't mean to pry and please don't respond if it's uncomfortable to discuss. I'm just at a loss to understand. Secondly, which congressional district are you in? I think we've already seen two Florida Senatorial appointments posted on the 2019 thread (I didn't go back and check), are you in a particularly competitive district? I'm assuming you're from Florida I guess based on the FSU plan B. I would imagine areas around Jacksonville and Pensacola would be very competitive.

93sir - So sorry to hear your news. My DS asks everyday if we have heard anything, and I try to remain positive, although, I am thinking that this late in the game a TWE may be on its way. I wish your DS the very best in the future, as well as, all the others so willing to serve our country.
