I just found the waitlist sheet. Is anybody else having a difficult week? I'm wishing plan Bs turn out to be great plan As for all. My prayer is may any BFEs that come to waitlisters please come to the right ones on the list.

Right ones? At this point in the game I think as a parent it is important to keep in mind that if your child made it this far they were an exceptional candidate. My DS last year really took the wait list letter well. He saw it as he was not rejected by them, they just didn't have room for him. He saw it as a very positive thing when reapplying. He was very confident in his application as a college re applicant and his hard work and dedication paid off. He is now a member of the Class of 2019. It is important to remember that every kid that makes it this far has something to offer and I don't think that any one thing makes one better than the other. In our town, my son stood out as a very exceptional kid. However, I remember being at CVW and looking around at the 200 kids. They all seemed exceptional and I saw that every one of them seemed just like my kid. When they get to this point they all look the same on paper. How do they choose? Your guess is as good as mine. But I don't thing the ones they do choose are the "wrong" ones.

Stay positive. Many of the re applicants get in on the second try.

I took "right ones" to mean that she hoped it was someone that had participated with her in this forum.

Yes. If you go to the second time on the roller coaster thread you will see many second timers that got in. You will also see some that did not, but many from last year did. Some were not even wait listers. They originally got a TWE.

I'm sorry if no one understood what I was thinking. What I meant was the kid that will be at his/her best going this year as opposed to the benefits other parents have spoken about by having the perspective gained of the college year and reapplication. Many have said they feel this route was worth it. That's all I meant. They all deserve it! I definitely didn't mean someone was "wrong."

Does anyone have any insight into how a third time applicant is viewed by the Admissions Board. DS received his second TWE in first week of April and is obviously disappointed. He attended a senior military institution and is a physics major with in excess of a 3.6 QPA with all the qualities desired- he just doesn't know what else he could have done. He left it all "on the field"-
The question: is a third time applicant viewed as an "also ran" despite his unwaivering determination and stellar qualifications- as evidenced by his tremendous performance at this very challenging institution? Bent but not broken in Pa

From what I can gather, they really place an emphasis on tenacity. I don't thinking a 3 time applicant will hurt at all. I would guess it would actually help.

If your son is considering a reapplication, I would encourage and support him as he is made of tough stuff. I think once the dust settles from this application period he should call and find out where he stands and what he else he could possibly do to make his application as attractive as possible.

DS still playing the waiting game......."pending review" y'all keep pulling for DS, thanks

Agree wholeheartedly with this. Ask, what would he could do that would make the difference.

I appreciate the responses regarding my DS and approaching this very difficult process again- for a third time. It is not easy to watch or listen to a DS or DD deal with a rejection of such gravity- and find the strength to enter the "fire" again- knowing that it may well happen again for some nebulous reason. But, he was raised to get back on the horse when thrown off and I believe he will- once he returns home for the summer break and gets some definitive answers from Admissions. Thank you for encouragement.

I'm a third time applicant. Denied to 2017, wait listed to 2018, and appointed to 2019 in February. My first Blue and Gold Officer took four tries before he got in himself, and I consider myself very lucky to have met him. If someone wants it bad enough it'll happen.

You are an inspiration "2019" and perhaps at some point we could email or private message. I admire all who attempt this process and see it through, appointed or not- but I really admire young folks like you who are Undeterred by initial failure. You are remarkable and a teacher to folks of any age.

Breathing a little life into this thread. ;-)

Do any of the powers that be, are you able to provide any insight as to what's going on inside admissions locker room, their playbook, and the numbers? :)

Here's a life preserver....NAPSters got their appointments today. They have until May 12 to accept or decline. There tends to be at least one prior who decides they'd rather finish their enlisted commitment and get out faster so they decline their appointment. Maybe this year someone will do the same.
