How important are the mathematics placement exams? If you do bad are you placed in a remedial course or something?

Also, what is the normal math level that plebes start out in?

Normal plebes start out in Calculus I, which I have heard is differential calculus of a single variable only, which is different from the curriculum of AP Calculus AB.

Different as in harder, more advanced, simply different, or what? (For those of us unfamiliar with the AP Calculus AB curriculum).

AP Calc AB covers about halfway through what the Academy considers its Calc II class. It's slightly extended. Much of the material is really the same.

Just curious: as you're not at USNA yet, how do you know this about Calc II at USNA? Thanks in advance!
