So I was reading on a parents' club website that the army will pay for my airfare to the academy for I-Day. Is this true for all travel to and from the academy (to an extent of course), such as on Christmas Break?

Jayceguy, you will be reimbursed for airfare (or mileage if your parents drive you there) when you report to West Point for R-day. Also an over night stay in a hotel and food expenses (if applicable) will also be available to you. All of this information will be provided in your admissions packet. These benefits are only provided for R-day. Any other travel for leave or passes is strictly at the cadet's expense. FYI...there is a limit on applicable expenses and they are for the cadet only.

The military will pay for all official travel. That includes your initial move from your home of record to the Academy for R day. It also includes all summer training, all academic development assignments, military schools, CTLT etc… You are on your own for all passes, Holidays , Thanksgiving, Christmas, Summer break, Spring Break etc..

Travel on R-Day….

West Point will provide a contact through a travel agency to make arraignments . They will fly you (coach) the night before, arrange overnight stay, (may double you up with another CC) and get you to R-Day on time in the morning for those who will travel by themselves.

If you travel with family, the travel agency can make arraignments to travel together and will only cover the costs for you. Keep all receipts and paper work and you will be reimbursed after YOU COMPLETE Beast.

Reimbursement is to your Cadet Account

You will fill out paperwork during BEAST and they reimburse you by posting to your Cadet Account.

Great info as always. Thanks everyone!
