C/O 2016 Appointee here. Given that this will be an election year can I get some information on how that process will work? Should I vote absentee in home state (MD) or is there a way to register out in CO? Will there be a polling place on the grounds or will we be transported to another location?

You vote via your state of residence. For most cadets, that will be their "Home of Record" (i.e. where you lived before, have your Driver's License, etc.)

You can change your state of residence to CO, if you desire. You'll be paying taxes to CO, go through their DMV, etc (which is a bit pricey).

My DS maintained his residence in our home state. So, he voted absentee. Your local voting office (for us, it's the county) will have information on how to receive your absentee ballot. You'll fill out a form, they'll mail you the appropriate ballot, and you'll return it by mail.

My boys voted in their home state via absentee ballot. I, or they, had the ballots sent to our home and then I forwarded them on, with lots of other good things in care packages.
