STATEMENT FROM CONGRESSWOMAN JANICE HAHN ON RELEASE OF NEW CONGRESSIONAL MAPS

LOS ANGELES- Statement by Congresswoman Janice Hahn on the redistricting maps:

“Ten days ago, I took the oath of office as a new Member of Congress proudly serving the citizens of the 36th District and fighting to bring our troops home, take care of our veterans, protect Social Security and Medicare and get people back to work by creating new, green jobs.

Today, that District was taken away from me and split into three very different districts.

The Beach Cities and the northern part of the district has been drawn in with Santa Monica, Malibu and Beverly Hills.

The middle part of the district – including Torrance and Lomita – has been linked with Inglewood.

Finally, the Harbor Communities of San Pedro and Wilmington, where I have lived and called home for more than twenty-years, is part of a new Watts-San Pedro district.

Regardless of which district the voters of the old 36th were placed into under these lines, they should rest assured that I will fight for the very issues I campaigned on each and every day.”
