I did boys state, sle, and nass back to back to back. Honestly, it was the time of my life. The watered down R-Day was nice and in your face. The PT was easy, but fun. The classes were really long, and (in some cases) slightly dry. That said, I did a Russian class that made me rethink my preferred major (It was that good). Got to handle weapons quite a bit, which made the inner infantryman in me very VERY happy. The simulated range was excellent. The military day (last full day) was really fun. Combatives in the mud, obstacle courses, MREs, marching, a patrol demonstration (complete with blank rounds and simulated artillery). Needless to say excellent experience. NASS was okay. Far, far more laid back (didn't earn any points in my book for that). Slightly less organized. You get to do probably 3x as many classes while you're there (which was a breath of fresh air compared to WP's 3 classes for 5 hours). Oceanography, YP Cruise, Damage Control, and Shiphandling were all REALLY fun courses. The naval version of military day was pretty bland. Some pool work, some running, but the crown jewel was the Wet and Sandy station. Imagine all the rolling around in the water and beach pushups of BUDS, but take away all of the stress and sleep deprivation. It's easy, but darn if it isn't fun. Overall, I say SLE was the better experience.
