I just accepted an offer to this years SLE and I was wondering if anyone could share their experience if they went to SLE! What was the environment like, how intense was PT, how much free time did you have if any at all, how did it compare to NASS if you went there as well? Any advice/tips are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I went to SLE last year, and I thought that it was a great experience. When you first get there, they put you through a watered-down version of R-Day, which is pretty intense, but the rest of the week is much more laid back. We still had to keep our rooms somewhat in order and march in formation everywhere, but it wasn't as intense as those first few hours. PT wasn't too difficult, but you should still show up in good shape, especially since you'll be taking the CFA while you're there. We had some free time, but we just had to stay in the barracks. The motivation was very high all around, and I liked being among a group of people who were willing to put forth their best effort toward anything they did. To give you some advice, make sure you pack everything on the packing list, and show up prepared to do well on the CFA. If you do those two things, I think you'll have a really good time.

I posted a more detailed description of my experience in this other thread:

I did boys state, sle, and nass back to back to back. Honestly, it was the time of my life. The watered down R-Day was nice and in your face. The PT was easy, but fun. The classes were really long, and (in some cases) slightly dry. That said, I did a Russian class that made me rethink my preferred major (It was that good). Got to handle weapons quite a bit, which made the inner infantryman in me very VERY happy. The simulated range was excellent. The military day (last full day) was really fun. Combatives in the mud, obstacle courses, MREs, marching, a patrol demonstration (complete with blank rounds and simulated artillery). Needless to say excellent experience. NASS was okay. Far, far more laid back (didn't earn any points in my book for that). Slightly less organized. You get to do probably 3x as many classes while you're there (which was a breath of fresh air compared to WP's 3 classes for 5 hours). Oceanography, YP Cruise, Damage Control, and Shiphandling were all REALLY fun courses. The naval version of military day was pretty bland. Some pool work, some running, but the crown jewel was the Wet and Sandy station. Imagine all the rolling around in the water and beach pushups of BUDS, but take away all of the stress and sleep deprivation. It's easy, but darn if it isn't fun. Overall, I say SLE was the better experience.
