    Hello all,

I was just curious if a governer can nominate a candidate for selection at the naval academy.

Check Chapter 2 of the online catalog. All candidates are expected to request nominations from the Vice President, their two US Senators, and their US Congressman. Various other individuals, depending on their situation, such as JROTC, sons or daughters of various military groups, etc, may request nominations from either the Sec Nav or the President.

Hm. That answered one of my dilemmas.

    The SecNav can nominate?

Both the SecNav and the Presidential nominations are for special groups; sons and daughters of active duty/retired military, MOH awardees, disabled/deceased veterans, NJROTC and NROTC, active duty and reserve sailors and marines, etc. Everyone should be familiar with Chapter 2 of the online catalog to ensure whether or not they fall in any of these special groups.

    Good luck

Yeah, I knew that the President could nominate - that's one of the nominations I'm eligible for, but I never knew the SecNav could.

Knowing what I know, I'm eligible for... six nominations...

But thanks for linking me to the chapter. I apply for the Presidential nomination through the Naval Academy Office of Admissions, correct?

EDIT - Scratch that, I got it.
