I've scrolled through this forum multiple times and I haven't seen an answer to this question (I might have missed it, who knows). I am currently a candidate for USAFA class of 2021 and am looking at all of my possibilities just in case I do not receive an appointment. I've seen a lot about AFROTC scholarships and when I went online, the AFROTC website did not clarify this for me. Am I able to apply for an AFROTC scholarship when I have not been in ROTC in high school and am applying to a SA? The website says that you cannot accept the scholarship if you enroll in a SA, but it doesn't say if you need to already be a part of ROTC. Would I be able to qualify if I intend to do ROTC at a civilian college if I am not appointed to USAFA? Thanks so much!

Yes, you can apply for AFROTC or any ROTC scholarship. Many Service Academy applicants also apply for some form of ROTC scholarship as a backup plan in case they do not receive an appointment.

Apply, Apply, Apply! If you put enough lines in the water, you're more likely to catch a fish!
