Looking at pictures of last year, some plebe candidates wore shorts. Our son would like to wear khaki colored shorts that are actually quite dressy instead of slacks. Can they do that this year?

Whatever they wear will be gone VERY shortly after they report in. So if it's comfort that he is after then it will be short lived. The logging in book is pretty specific as to what to wear. Why call unnecessary attention to yourself? As for the photos from last year, bear in mind that not everyone who shows up knows about, or participates in, these forums. There will be a lot of clueless people at Kings Point on I day. Don't be one of them! Last year someone showed up, looked around and exclaimed, "Oh, they wear uniforms here???!!!" There is also a photo of a young lady in a mini skirt and high heels.......baaaaad idea!

I would report with!!

Report in kahki slacks collared shirt tucked in. crew-t under. crew white socks and your running shoes. And most important your A game. Kp is no joke:eek:

^^^^^ Exactly.

Hint for the day: After you've said goodbye to the folks & head towards that door to the unknown, button up the top button of your shirt.

Safe travels to KP. Keep your sense of humor. Only allow yourself to say "I hate this place & I quit" twice daily then move on to the next thing & blow it off. Even if you hate whats on Delano menu for the day, EAT IT. You will need the calories. Put duct tape over any blisters if you can find the time. Powder up sweaty areas cause heat rashes are evil.

Good luck to all of you & GO GET IT!

Duct tape is not on the packing list!! I stuck in band aids.

Duct tape is what the EMTs use on blisters. It actually works. I tried it. They can also use it when making their racks. 101 uses for duct applies at KP. Throw some in there just because.

DS wrapped some around his gold bond container. Used to wrap it around his water bottle in scouts. I'm sure I'll be sending more.:thumb:

So..... can they actually bring a roll of duct tape or do they need to bring it in under the radar as KP13Mom indicated?

Can I just send a roll of duct tape or do I have to get creative - i.e. wrap around the gold bold etc??

Our daughter carried it with her last year and she says there should be no problem with that. She also said that she didn't need it during indoc, but wanted it immediately after. I remember having to replace the roll, I think at Parents Weekend, because it was so popular. Seems it sprouted legs and found a new home.

Bring duct tape, safety pins and a couple dollars of quarters. Because.
