I think the father engaged in a bit of hyperbole.

USNA will consider many factors, and a misdemeanor may not be a showstopper, assuming the applicant is well-qualified in all other aspects, and has taken steps to redeem himself.

It really comes down to: Character counts, and words and actions matter.

that's a tough situation, although it may not help his application in character, that is quite a bit excessive.

And I've noticed that zero-tolerance policies are taking control of the school systems, hearing from teachers about the sorts of senior pranks they did. One of my teachers talked about how they took apart their principal's car and put it back together on the roof. This year we're stuck with either a) handing the principal marbles as he hands us our diplomas, or b) leaving crickets in the hall.

I cannot imagine this is a deal breaker for USNA. Sounds like a great essay topic for "name a time you faced a difficult situation and had to overcome it" essay.

The senior class at my school when I was a soph did the marbles thing at graduation... 220 kids. It was kinda lame, the principal figured it out really fast and just set them in the box with diplomas as he would pull the next one out.... but Good luck!! I think we might set up a big 'tailgate' event in the faculty parking lot one morning, +/-0400 and have a big festival up and running by about 0730... Agree with staying away from the whole vandalism/Breaking and entering thing. Good way to loose an appt.

I come from more or less a farm town, so our senior prank ideas consist of these 2 things:

    1) Release 3 pigs in the school halls, labled 1,2,4

    2) Bring a cow upstairs. Cows won't walk down stairs (we do have a...small elevator however) :shake:

But I doubt either one will come to happen :/

I'm sure they kind find someone qualified to take his destined place at USNA 3 years from now.

Yes, i think it maybe overkill as well.

I like the 3 pigs idea. As for our school, there was a rumor that the principal would punish us (somehow) if we actually tried the marble idea. lol

At my school we graduate after the 1st semester and head abroad for the remainder of the year.

Anyways, I spearheaded our senior prank and we removed all the markers, projector remotes, and any other pieces of technology in the classroom, covered the boards completely with butchers paper, and placed a box of crayons in each room. It was pretty funny seeing the entire day taught in crayon.

It was a pretty harmless prank that was even approved by the administration (yes, at our school, senior pranks must be approved by the administration).

Our kids school also approves of the pranks. They do it during the last day of homecoming week, so these kids really do ask for permission because otherwise they will get a letter of reprimand in their official school file.

I love the pig idea. We don't have pigs around here as much as we have goats, but I bet that would work too.

Haha we really wanted to do the pig thing here too, but couldn't get our hands on them.

My school has no senior pranks that are allowed  they are taking away so many things for us including upperclassman going off campus during free periods, senior pranks, and playing “assassins” on school property, along with many other harmless things.

I dont understand why he is given more than a 5 day suspention. I could understand if it was paintballs or something, but a little spit ball type thing is harmless.

Our school is already full of rats... You can hear them running around in the ceiling when we are taking a test or something that gets the class quiet. I have actually had the pleasure of seeing one of them scurry down the hallway one afternoon......

I can imagine that there might be a few future lawsuits that ensue from this spitball incident. There are teachers in my school that throw markers at students when they are constantly not paying attention or are sleeping.

My school has a big fake gameday chicken that weighs like 300 lbs and our senior prank is going to be to put that thing on the roof in the front of the school with a banner that says beware of the Cock! I am going to have no involvement whatsoever

Yea...our school does not approve of senior pranks. We do have senior skip day and a day where the seniors traditionally party out in the parking lot leading up to signing out before internship through homeroom. There's always team pranks TPing, poolhopping, etc that occur as well but the new AD is really cracking down on that so I would say that this area is going to see a lot fewer of those happening (not that there was an abundence, its a tradition with specific sports)

My school is INSANELY strict too :/

Students can't have facial hair-if we do, a teacher will make us go to the Senior Office where they hand out razors and make us shave. It's happened to me twice this year alone :unhappy:

Appearantly that's rare for schools? It's a public high school too.

Zero-tolerance policies are awful. Imagine if the US Court system was like that! Except there's no juries in high schools

Insanely? lol. You're not in KISD are you? (looking at your Houston location). That is what my HS did back when as far as facial hair/side burns. I never considered the school particularly strict.
