So I was looking on the portal today and saw a PDF saying Candidate File Qualified but it won't open. I'm assuming it means I'm qualified for obvious reasons, but I thought the academies didn't notify you for this, at least not USNA. Given that I have a prin, does this mean I'm in? I think it does, but am unsure. In the case that it does, why not send me a BFE? The PDF is dated 11/13. Thanks!

Well since you are just noticing a qualified letter sent almost a month ago and at that, the qualification review probably started a couple weeks prior to that, you've got to ask yourself - was your nomination in yet when that started? Even with a principal nomination, last year, admissions didn't send out those BFEs until mid February.

That's right, I think my nom went in at just about that time.

Not so fast...

Take it is easy on the happy dance. It’s still all contingent receiving an appointment. You still need to get your 7th and 8th semester transcripts in before the deadline and keep your grades high. You need to keep your nose clean, don’t get into trouble or be anywhere near it. Absolutely no underage drinking or be any where near it. And stay healthy.

Congrats!!

On most of those things I'm way ahead of you, thanks!

I am wondering why DS's ACT score is not showing up on her admission file?

TIMELINE

How long does it usually take for a application to get looked at and qualified once the application is completed?

For what it's worth...

Our son also took the ACT in October, and his scores just showed up 2 or 3 days ago - I'd bet yours will show up soon. If they're not there in a couple of weeks, it never hurts to call Admissions and make sure they were received.

All depends on time of year, how strong the file is, and type of nomination. Later in the year when there are more files to review, it takes longer. Stronger files tend to get reviewed first since they have a much better chance at getting in. Same for principal nominations.

Ya, I had a principal nom and my file was qualified less than a week after the nom was received.

So what would it mean if your file got qualified before nominations went in?

It's means your 3'd, as the letter attached states.
