Candidate Kit

When is everything in my candidate kit due by?
Has your portal finally opened? Last you posted you said you were deemed not competitive and had to get your SAT or ACT scores up. I'm a little confused.

I was confused too lol. But heres what the email said when I contacted them: "I will schedule it to open, it didn't open because the Critical Reading in both your SAT and ACT show a Academic Risk. Got to that large e-mail and get your hands on the book that is mentioned in it. It really does help improve scores, just retaking the exam will not help you. I have attached the tips sheet in hopes that you use the tips and improve your file."

If you get your scores up, you increase the chance of becoming academically qualified. You need to be academically, physically, and medically qualified with a nomination to be eligible to receive an offer of appointment.

If you don't get your scores up, you risk being academically disqualified. If you are DQ, you cannot go directly to West Point. Unless you are a recruited athlete, under represented minority, or a Soldier, your chance of being offered a spot at the prep school is minimal.

You must complete your candidate kit before the file completion deadline in February. If you fail to make satisfactory progression on completion, your RC will send you a notice and potentially close your file. Don't wait. You are best to complete before the end of September and update again after the new year with any recognitions/achievements/leadership updates.

Ok thank you for all the info! I was so confused because I thought the email meant if I got my scores up then they would open my portal

From the email you received (from your RC, I assume)
- your portal was not opened because of your CR scores.
- if you raise your score sufficiently, then your portal will open
- study for the test
