I wanted to inquire about the early arrival of my official candidate letter from the Naval Academy. I have read that USNA does not mail out these letters until July, but sure enough, last month I recieved a letter from the Department of the Navy congratulating me on being an official candidate. I am probably reading into this too much, but could anyone tell me if this could possibly be a positive sign at my chances for an appointment, or is it merely because i started the application process earlier than everyone else?

Taymcg,

I also received my letter confirming me as an official candidate. It is good you are starting your application early and staying ahead of the game! However, the letter is in no way increasing your chances of being picked up. Remember its a rolling admissions process. Good luck to you!

If you read some older threads these have been coming out for a few weeks now. As stated above, don't read into these things or you will drive yourself crazy during this process.
