Hello, I'm a high school junior looking to apply to West Point. On the usma website, the candidate portal is a must have, but when I follow the link, there is no sign-up button for the portal. How does one get a candidate portal.

    Thank you

For High School Juniors, the portal opens in conjunction with SLS applications - and that opened in January last year. According to the Admissions website, that will occur on January 8; I suggest poking around the Admissions site; you will find a ton of information to review. The page for Juniors is also very helpful: http://www.usma.edu/admissions/SitePages/Pros_Cadets_Juniors.aspx

    SLS

SLS is a great program and the other academies offer the same. I would encourage you to quickly talk with your parents about your desires to attend SLS so they can prepare also. At SLS you'll meet other kids from across the country and share the program together. You'll be observed by the Cadets during the one week there and get a small taste of WP. As been said, you'll open a portal and begin the application process. Get informed about you MOC and interview process. Also many kids after leaving SLS go to attend Boys State. This is another great opportunity and is a check box on your portal. You will need PSAT test scores or SAT, ACT test scores to apply for SLS.
