Candidates who were accepted to SLS

I was accepted but can not attend. Will declining my spot hurt my chances?

no, admissions will not snub you because you could not make it to sls, no question about that.

in fact, same thing happened to me with the naval academy seminar, i wanted that week to train for swimming so i could stand a shot at getting recruited for Army Swimming and Diving, took the risk of not being liked at USNA, went fast enough and got recruited to Army, and i winded up receiving a letter of assurance from Navy in october anyways. don't worry though, i'm going to west point

you will however miss out on taking the cfa earlier and possibly qualifying for that early on and not have to do it on your own time, but then again, most applicants have to do that anyways

you also will not be able to do the interview with your squad cadre sergeant, but most candidates who wind up becoming new cadets never went to sls anways and never had this interview

since you've been accepted to sls, you are probably very well off academically and if you're quick in getting in your 6 semester transcript and filling out the application as soon as it comes out you will be just as likely to receive an LOA as you would if you had gone to SLS

best of luck to you!

Thank you for the reassurance. I have been really worried.
