"Captain Phillips" Movie rating

Excellent move! Loved it.

Captain Phillips is an idot. This was confirmed to be by more than one person who has actually sailed with him. I have heard its not a half bad movie if you can get past the hollywood fluff. I myself choose not to see it because the whole event was not about one man and yet the title of the movie seems to suggest it is. This feed into the false narrative that Phillips himself played along with even though he knew it was untrue. I have better places to be with my precious movie time.

KP - I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on this one. DS sailed with Phillips for two months during his sea year, saw the movie, and in his words found it "awesome." He's not a Phillips worshiper by any stretch of the imagination and he certainly caught his share of "glitches" in the movie, but he never considered Phillips to be an "idiot." Admittedly, by 2011 when son sailed things had changed - when he sailed through pirate territory with Phillips they had an armed security team aboard (that had to board and disembark in international waters so they didn't violate any "no weapons" policy).
