Upon graduation from KP, will I be able to commission as an ACTIVE DUTY officer in another branch? (like the Navy or Air Force)

I am specifically asking about ACTIVE DUTY, not reserve.

Thank You for any help.

Jamdog11- my 2015 DS is getting ready to graduate and took an Army Commissioning... he will be an officer and will be ACTIVE DUTY Army. Typically around 35% of the graduating class goes active duty (any branch) and the rest "sail". Also typically... more started out at KP wanting to go active duty yet changed their minds after their sea trips. Understand this is a maritime university and you will learn all about the maritime world... but definitely yes, you CAN go active duty as an officer -in whatever branch you wish (Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, NOAH, Marines). Best of luck to you.

Thanks for all the info aooga15! And thank you for your service to the United States. I currently live on a U.S. Army post overseas!

Put an asterisk next to the above statement that it is entirely dependent on the needs of that particular service. 30+ people applied for naval commissions this year, 18 folks will get active duty slots, no one in the last two years has gone Air Force, I can't find anyone from the last two decades who has gone straight to BOTC for NOAA (...a few KP'rs direct commission NOAA after naval aviation), the coast guard, army, and marine corps selection has typically been a little more open, but very competitive.

Nothing is guaranteed, you could make good grades, apply to every service and get the job of your dreams, or get offered nothing. It just depends on what the services anticipated need will be in 2019, which no one can predict.

Those are my previous postings on active duty and some discussion from others.

I would like to add that the USAF for flight purposes has been very "sketchy" and the Army is having extreme difficulty. They are currently going through Hofstra University due to the lack of support here.
