Does anyone know any place where I can find stories, descriptions, and what is daily life like as an officer in the different specialty career fields? For example, what is it like to live aboard a medium endurance cutter or be stationed at an emergency response station?

Thanks

I think personal (or official) blogs are probably your best bet...the Coast Guard has really embraced social media/networking, so there is a lot to choose from if you look around. The official Coast Guard blog (http://coastguard.dodlive.mil/) just started a series about ENS Cook reporting to the CGC Forward.

I agree, however I would caution you from taking everything you read on unofficial blogs seriously.

There are a few UNOFFICIAL Coast Guard blogs that are decent, and there is one or two that I would stay away from, with the understanding that while "Coast Guard" might be in its name, it is not "by the Coast Guard" and is certainly not "for the Coast Guard."

You can also ask...here. This some knowledge between few Coast Guard members here.
