"Casual Duty" for 2nd Lieutenants

What is that 15-10? Certainly an ouch! I wonder how far back that will push the AFA14 grads?

I wonder exactly where the clog started. Our DS's class is on time, and he is 14-08, and 14-09 is on time too, so it had to happen for the classes that started in June or afterwards, which is exactly when the furloughs started.

Vance 15-03 started on time last Thursday, Nov. 21. I guess we will see if they stay on their timeline with the budget fiasco....

Just curiosity, did they start with the intended class size, or did they reduce it to a smaller number, and like LAFB, they still are starting on time, just bumping a few out of each class back.

However, eventually a few will tally up to be an entire class or two every yr. Think of it mathematically, if 3 or 4 are bumped to take a class from 30 to 25, and they have 14 classes a yr., that turns out to be @ 2 full classes within a yr.

I know our DS's class was one of the 1st at Del Rio that was forced to split the formation and instrument portion into 2 groups. 1/2 went to instrument and the other 1/2 went to formation, and than they would flip. The way our DS explained it to me was that it came down to the xcountry sorties and sequestration.

Now I wonder if that was where it all started for them, if that is the reason why Laughlin, and now it appears Columbus are bumping students, but even so, it would not explain why UNT is also pushing back students there. Our friend's DS was bumped from Dec. to Jan. to Feb., and now is in March. He completed IFS in Oct., and is at P'Cola casual until he starts.

I also wonder if this is the reason the AFA cadets have yet to hear because they are trying to get the pipeline straightened out especially since AFROTC 14 already have their rated slots. Granted they will go after the AFA, but it is a number they have to place into the equation. Plus, you need to add in any OCS slots. Our DS's friend that got UNT, received it in 12 as a rising sr in college, a full yr before he reported to OCS. He was told that the reason he did not get UPT was due to the fact AFA and AFROTC filled all of the UPT slots for 13.

They started with 27. Sorry but I do not know if that was the originally intended class size.

We can go round and round about this issue.

The fact is some cadets will have casual status longer than previous yrs.

I would think most cadets right now want to know their AFSC and are willing to do casual status just to know.

My heart goes out to the AFA 14 cadets because 9-10 months ago AFROTC cadets were told their rated assignments as an AS300 aka C2C.
~~~ Than again AFA will always go 1st to rated schools.
I just can't get why we are approaching Dec. and these kids have no answer yet, while last yr they knew in Oct.
December 4th is the alleged magic date.
rated?
we have a doolie so this talk is probably something for the older kids. i see the terms "rated" talked about on this thread. what exactly does that mean? do we need to do anything at this point?
15-02 also has 27. So far as I know that was the intended roster minus one IFS drop. Luckily, Vance has still been able to maintain the schedule... No bumps or slowdowns. Knock on wood.
"Rated" simple means that their AFSC (job in the Air Force) requires an aeronautical rating. This includes pilots, navigators, and air battle managers.
With regard to the Dec. 4th date for AFSC drop, our 2014 DS says he'll believe it when he sees it......:thumbdown:
Great job, falcongirl! We just found out our son got a pilot slot today too. He's wanted to be a military pilot since he was a kid. As a parent it's amazing to see your own child have a dream and work hard to achieve it.
