DS attended SLS week 1 and had an awesome time! Yesterday afternoon he received an email regarding his CFA results...The email listed his results and stated that any result with an asterisk would mean he was "at risk". He had no *'s and at the bottom it said candidate is "not at risk". Does this mean that he passed the CFA?

    retake

MY SLS CFA scores are as follows:

    B-Ball 62
    PullUps 18-(max)
    Shuttle run 9.0
    Crunches 95-(max)
    push ups 75-(max)
    1 mile 6.26
    score 672-No Risk

    Questions:
1.) what's the formula to develop that 672 score?
2.) Mile and shuttle times were good for me but I think I can improve my BBall throw. Would it be worth it to redo? (I know time would be better spent improving SAT test scores-but Im working on that as well)

I was told that 40% of boys failed and 60% of girls failed the CFA while at SLS. What does that mean for them? Do they have to retake it? If you are a recruited athlete doe you still have to pass the CFA?

Yes, they must pass the CFA - it is part of the admissions process.

Yep. It's an integral part of the admissions process. If one doesn't pass, one cannot be admitted.

Is it typical for 60% of women and 40%of men to fail this during SLS? Is there any information if most go on to retake and pass or not?
DS maxed half and was above average on the other half. He said only one other guy in his squad maxed three and that two of the three girls failed.

If you fail you have to retake it, and everyone has to pass. If you have good scores you do not need to retake it (maxing three and above average for the rest counts as good). It isn't really worth stressing about, from what my B&G told me the CFA rarely 'gets people in'. If two applicants are the exactly the same, barring the CFA then yes it can make a difference, but it boils down to a small part of the application. Being fit is incredibly important at the academy, and being involved in sports is important for admissions, but as long as your scores are decent on the CFA don't sweat it.

The people who failed the CFA can and must take it again. However, failing the test is a BIG RED FLAG!! If you want to go to WP you MUST work on every event on the CFA and make the average score or better on every event.

Wait, I have two candidates who attended SLS week 1. Neither one received an email. One has CFA received on the portal and one has CFA not received. I don't see a way to view the results. Did everyone else get an email?

Could be that the one whose portal shows that the CFA has not been received, failed the CFA at SLS.
An email to their FFR or RC would be a good idea to get some clarification.

This post will probably show my ignorance, but I am curious enough to ask- so here goes. When you talk about the CFA, do you literally mean shooting basketballs into a goal? If so, why would this be used to measure physical fitness? It would be such a shame to lose a candidate who is physically fit, but doesn't have game.

It's not at a basket.... it's how far you can throw a BB from a kneeling position.
