Hi, I'm a candidate for the class of 2018 and need to finish up my CFA. I am a girl. I was hoping someone could tell me if these scores are competitive:

Basketball Throw: 30 ft
Flexed Arm Hang: 65 seconds
Shuttle Run: 10 seconds
Sit Ups: 75
Push Ups: 50(max)
1-mile: 6:10

I am most worried about the Flexed Arm Hang. Does anyone know if it is at all possible to get into the Academy with no pull ups?
Thank you!

Read the Sticky for the

Basketball Throw. 30 feet isn't that far and has room for improvement. If you're throwing it like a baseball, don't, throw it like a GoalKeeper in soccer. Check out the over the top mechanics on the Sticky on this topic and try it. See if you can't get another 5-10'!!

Your scores are all over, which isn't really a bad thing.

You should try for one pull up because that's better than any amount of time with a flexed arm hang. You should also try to improve on your basketball throw, you're 11' below the average.

However your mile time is outstanding and you hit the max for push-ups (wooot!). And you're hovering around average for shuttle and sit-ups.

They're not going to rule you out because of what you did poorly on, they're going to commend you for what you did well (4/6) and if they're concerned they'll ask you to repeat a section (I think).

Good luck

My ds is a runner. He just took his CFA two weeks ago. Yesterday he received a letter on his portal saying he needs to take the CFA again by 10/31 because the Academy has concerns he may have difficulty athletically. He had a bball throw of 77', 7 pull ups, 26 push ups, 55 sits ups. He maxed out on the shuttle run at 6.4 and the mile run in 5:20. As with most distance runners, he's got no upper body strength. He's 6'2", 148 lbs. If his numbers don't improve for push ups and sit ups, is this a problem? He's got solid ACT scores and he's been told his application is solid otherwise. Now he's panicking...any advice?

You're at or above my scores for everything except B-ball throw (I think I had a 39' throw.)

That said, it is of course the WHOLE PERSON. CFA is a small part of that, as I'm sure you know. You'd do yourself a favor to be able to do at least one pull-up when you arrive--and by the time you submit for CFA if you can.
