hey guys so I am going to be taking my CFA in a few weeks. I do workout but i was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get ready for the pullups. as of right now i am unable to do that portion and I am pretty worried. If anyone has any specific exercises they do i would appreciate the help. thanks in advance!

Do muscle failure training (DON'T DO IT 1 week before the CFA, though!)

Other words, do what you can do (such as pull-ups) until you really can't do them anymore. Then rest for 2 minutes. Then max pull-ups again, then rest, then max.

You will be super sore in the next day.

AND/OR

Setup a pull-up bar in your room's door. Everytime you pass under it, do a pull-up. If you can't do one, do (negative pullups? I think that's the name): jump/have someone raise you until your chin is over the bar. Extend arms as slowly and in control as you can.

Good luck!

If you are a member of a gym, use a pull-up machine. Start with 30 pounds of support; do however many reps you can. Gradually decrease the weight until you do not need any. This is the reason I was able to do pullups on the CFA.

Everything that Bill said has helped me improved.

In addition to that I would also throw in lat pull-downs at half your body weight (or more) x 3 sets of 12 reps. Anything you can do to shed unnecessary pounds will help as well. Luckily if you eat properly and keep up with your run it will happen naturally.

Everything previously stated is what has helped me go from like one or two last year to 12 PROPER ones now. That's the key also, make sure you are training to the standard published in the CFA instructions. Only the properly executed ones will count:thumb:
