    Hey!

Is the CFA based on a point system or is it strictly a pass/fail system? Are you allowed to have it administered by your physical education teacher at your school?

I've heard it said that you can retake the CFA, it that true, or can you only take it once? Also, for sit-ups, are the sit-ups the kind where you raise your torso to your knees, or are they the kind where you touch your knee with your elbow? Thanks.

i can't answer all of that, but for the sit-ups it's elbows to the knees.

once you get in though, the APFT requires hands behind the head. i think. i'm class of 2013, so i haven't gotten there yet. that's my understanding though.

How can you be in the class of 2013 and not know the answer to all of those questions?

Alltheway you can take the CFA as many times as you want, but you can only submit your scores once unless the Academy asks you to resubmit them. It is a points based system, but they do have "minimum" standards that tell them if you are in shape enough to be able to "survive" at the Academy. As far as the instructions for how to take the test, go to the website and read the online prospectus. It has a lot of the initial information you are seeking, and I'm a little surprised that you haven't looked yet especially with how motivated you say you are. I'm not trying to put you down, I just find it interesting that you are so passionate about going to West Point, yet you appear to not have done much research about it.

Perhaps he was talking about high school?

    Icelander27,

Thanks for the imput. Sorry about the questions. I have indeed looked into the CFA link on the USMA candidate website; but sometimes, I just get a little confused or unsure about certain matters involoving West Point. I really just want to be completely sure and ready about everything involving West Point. I hope you understand this. Well, anyways, thanks again for clarifying my questions. :thumb:

Good point, but confusing nonetheless if he did mean class of 2013 for high school.

No problem Alltheway. Just remember something my dad is always telling me. "An overdone strength can become a weakness." This website is great for answering a lot of questions one might have, but don't rely on it solely for all your information. Talk to the admissions team at the Academy, Major McBride (if I remember correctly), if at all possible any alumni or parents of alumni/cadets, and of course the official website for the Academy too.
