When the CFAs are taken during NASS do they run on a track? Also can the run be substituted with a 500m swim, if so what kind of times are Min/Max. Do the CFA go onto your application.
Thanks:thumb:

Yes the CFA goes into the application. (but you can take it again)
I do not believe a swim can be done in place of the run.
We ran around the fields- not sure what will happen this year.

Yeah, we ran around the fields last year. If you pass the CFA at NASS (your squad leader will take down your values and submit them for you), then you won't need to retake it later. I know of 2 people at my high school who had to take it with the wrestling coach during school (since he was the one registered with USNA or something; I dunno. I'd check up on that). The point being do well on the CFA at NASS, and find out ASAP if you passed.

The swim cannot be substituted for the run on the CFA. In fact, while at USNA, you must do the run. When I was in the USN (not USNA), you could swim 500m vs. run 1 mile. Now they do 1.5 miles and I don't know if you can still substitute the swim. But that won't apply until you graduate.

If you pass the CFA at NASS, you're done. If you think you can substantially improve your scores, you can retake the CFA and submit new scores. If you fail the CFA at NASS, you will need to retake it and pass to secure an appointment.

Bottom line: you will be much happier and more successful at NASS if you show up in reasonable shape. There's still 6 weeks or so to improve your level of fitness if you think you need to -- use it!

CFA's

I agree with the above. you'll have to do the run and it's best to pass while you're at NASS. Last year the CFA was administered on Mon. first thing in the morning. People from the west coast need to keep this in mind--there was a guy from Anchorage who passed but boy was he worn out for the rest of the day. At the end of your seminar you will have the regular FA administered.Good luck

Download the CFA instructions. Averages are on the front page.

I don't remember seeing the lower / upper limits though.

It lists the maximums, but it does not list the minimums.
