Hello! I was just wondering what the pay was as an active duty member throughout Prep School.

CGAS students are enlisted into the Coast Guard and paid at E-2 rank. This makes base pay of around $20,000 per year, or just under $1700 per month. In addition, students get a housing allowance, a subsistance (food) allowance, and can get an ROTC uniform allowance. All told, they make about $2200 per month.

However (a big however), the student is responsible for all books, fees, uniform items, housing and meals, etc that are required at the prep schools. Translation: you get paid, and then you go to the business office to pay your bills right after. The good news is usually you are paid more than you spend on school, so you get a chance to bank a good chunk of change.
