This week has been busy. I have done quite a bit of work on board along with everyone to prepare the ship to sail and keep it going. The work is fun though. We get to build things and use tools I have never used before.. I helped stow lines in the bow of the ship. This involved spinning the lines around a huge winch and feeding them down into a compartment in the bow. It was a very interesting process. A couple friends and I also helped a friend check the levels of fuel oil in the different tanks about the ship.

We’re living in large rooms with about 50-60 cadets sleeping in triple bunk beds. I live on the top bunk, and when I stand next to the bunks, mine’s over my head! To get to it, I have to pull myself up and slide in—I’ve gotten quite good at it.
