Chances at NROTC/AROTC scholarship

My son received his NROTC scholarship on the first board he was eligible for, to his first choice school, with an ACT math of 25 (equates to about a 580-600). Remember you can learn math and science, but the military wants leaders to be officers. Work on showing that you can take responsibility, and your application will show it.
I can atest to this - I received a 3-year AROTC scholarship (from Board 2) w/ only a 25 ACT, but it was everything else that brought me up - and made my application (holistically) solid.

This is why I refrain from making comments on "chances." Every year we have people with higher scores who don't make it and lower scores who do. This selection process, regardless of service branch, takes into account the whole person, test scores, application, letters of recommendation, interviews, school and major choice and weighs all that with the needs of the military.

The one true anecdote we can all agree with: the only sure way to get a scholarship is to apply.

Congrats to your DS!
