Everything looks good except for those SAT scores. As they stand they are non-competitive. I can't speak for the ACT scores since I never took it. Also, absolutely get as many nominations as you are eligible for. Even though it is not listed as an application criteria, having only one nomination does not bear well with Admissions.

The SAT CR and Math, and ACT scores are at/above average, but remember your competition is primarily your congressional district. It may take higher scores. You should continue to push to improve, taking advantage of super scoring.

Thanks for y'all's help. I have subsequently retaken the SAT (5th time) and am confident that my scores are higher. Hopefully in that 700 range. I take it that the class of 2017 was a very competitive class. Any idea when class profile will be available?

Some states like Texas, rarely gives people multiple nominations in an effort to get the most names to the academies. Admissions does not look down on somebody that only has one nomination, that would be absurd. It is still important to go for them all, but as long as you have one nomination from whatever source, you have a chance.

Class profiles are available in August for 2017.

BTW, I can 90% guarantee that your scores will be above the Class of 2017 averages with the exception of your writing score. Your scores ARE COMPETITIVE, but they still should be improved as admissions loves the SAT/ACT tests.

I think what (s)he means is that older class profiles and admissions staff both say that ACT averages are 29-30, which is slightly lower than James's scores. Since it's been relatively constant in the past, it's reasonable to assume that CO 2017 has similar averages, unless admissions had some sudden new focus on standardized test scores this year (or something of that sort).

Looking good! I think your on the right path. Remember to take advantage of the Super Scoring on ACT and or SAT. Maybe another varsity sport. But i would say you are looking good. Good luck

When I asked what I should have done better in order to receive a nomination, I was told my Admissions that my Math score of 690 could have been improved on and that, and I quote, "Additionally, only having one nomination was not ideal."

My SAT scores were 780 CR 690 Math 730 Writing, and I received a Congressional nomination. I compete from Texas. I'm simply relaying what I was told directly from Admissions, folks.

And if it helps, the profile I submitted put me just outside the top 100 on the NWL. Shoot for the highest scores you can, and then some.

By the way, I compete from Texas district 23, Rep. Pete Gallego.
